DHAKA: Turkey has killed 200 militants of the Islamic State (IS) of Iraq and Syria in cross-border operations after an ISIL suicide bomber killed 10 German tourists in Istanbul’s historic Sultanahmet Square on January 12.
Turkey has fired 500 cannon shots at ISIL targets in Iraq and Syria, killing 200 militants over the past 48 hours, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu said on Thursday, reports the Hurriyet Daily News.
The attacks were carried out over the past 48 hours, Davutoğlu said in an address to Turkish ambassadors gathered for an annual conference in Ankara.
Davutoğlu said close to 200 ISIL militants, including regional leaders were killed in strikes, adding that Turkey will maintain determined stance until ISIL leaves border areas.
