RUPGANJ (NARAYANGANJ): At least 10 people were injured and 20 houses burnt to ashes in a gas riser explosion in Hatipara area of Tarab municipality under Rupganj upazila of the district on Sunday morning.

The injured were admitted to local clinics.

Witnesses said while taking illegal gas connections, Nayan Sarker and Ratan Sarker of Hatipara area used low quality gas risers around one month ago.

Due to pressure, the gas riser blasted around 11:30am and a devastating fire broke out in the area.

Some 10 local people were injured while trying to douse the blaze.

Later, three fire service units of Demra brought the blaze under control after a frantic effort for one and half an hour. By the time, 20 houses were gutted in the fire.

Station Officer of Demra Fire Service Miron Mia confirmed the matter to banglanews.
