Canada hopeful for dialogue, says envoy

DHAKA: Canadian High Commissioner in Dhaka Heather Cruden expressed hope that Canada is still hopeful of a dialogue between both ruling and opposition to find out a way to resolve the country’s ongoing political crisis over polls-time government.

Heather Cruden came up with the assertion while addressing a programme held at Bangladesh Garment Manufactures & Exporters Association (BGMEA) Bhaban in the city on Sunday.

She said, “We hope that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Khaleda Zia will hold a dialogue to resolve the ongoing political crisis and promote the country’s business.”

The Canadian High Commission in Dhaka and Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) organized the function marking launching a book titled ‘International Standard Social Responsibility’.

Home Minister Dr Muhiuddin Khan Alamgir, BGMEA president Atiqul Islam, its vice president Shahidullah Azim and Dhaka University Professor Dr Syed Ferhad Anwar also spoke.
