Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Khandker Golam Faruq suspected that the attack on the fire service headquarters on the day of Bangabazar fire incident might be planned.
"It seems that the attack on the fire service headquarters was a planned attack," he added.
He made the remark while replying to queries of journalists at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) today (April 8).
The DMP commission said some scattered mob vandalized the fire service headquarters near Bangabazar and at this time, the office and some cars were vandalized.
"We have registered a case in this incident and 11 accused have been arrested," he added.
He also said that many of the arrestees in the video footage have similar faces and they are being interrogated.
Earlier on April 7, the massive fire at Bangabazar Market was finally doused, more than 75 hours after it broke out early on April 4.
The fire originated around 6:10am on April 4 at Adarsha Market of Bangabazar Shopping Complex, burning several thousand shops to ashes.
Earlier on April 6, a case was filed against 250 to 300 unidentified people for attacking and obstructing the police during the fire in the capital's Bangabazar.
