Prothom Alo reporter Samsuzzaman Shams on Sunday (April 9) got bail in another case filed with Tejgaon Police Station under the Digital Security Act (DSA).
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Sheikh Sadi passed the order after Shams through his lawyer surrendered before the court and sought bail in the case.
Earlier on April 3, Shamsuzzaman Shams was granted bail by a Dhaka court in a case filed under the DSA.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Muhammad Asaduzzaman Noor passed the order.
Shamsuzzaman Shams received bail upon a bond of Tk 20,000.
Earlier on March 30, lawyer Abdul Malek (Mashiur Malek) lodged the case with Ramna Police Station accusing the Prothom Alo's editor Matiur Rahman, reporter Shamsuzzaman Shams, an unnamed 'assistant cameraman', and unnamed others of "using print, online, and electronic media to tarnish the image and reputation of the state".
Later, Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzel Hossain sent Shamsuzzaman, The Daily Prothom Alo's Savar Correspondent, to jail in the DSA case rejecting his bail plea.
