A Dhaka court today (April 16) ordered Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to further probe into the case filed over the death of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) student Fardin Noor Parash in November last year.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shanto Islam Mallik passed the order after Fardin's father filed a no-confidence petition against the Detective Branch (DB) report.
Besides, CID has been ordered to submit a report by May 24 this year.
Earlier on February 6, DB of police pleaded to acquit Amatullah Bushra in a case lodged over the death of her friend and BUET student Fardin, as they filed final report in the case.
Earlier DB officials said they have found no involvement of Bushra in the death of Fardin, who they believe committed suicide.
Police on November 10, 2022, arrested Bushra from her Rampura flat and produced her before the court, pleading to place her on seven-day remand. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehedi Hasan had placed her on five-day remand on that day.
BUET student Fardin went missing on November 5 and his body was found in the Shitalakshya River on November 7, 2022.
