The fire at the Dhaka New Super Market was fully doused this morning (April 16), according to Fire Service and Civil Defence.
The fire was completely put out around 9am, said Md Shajahan Sikder, deputy assistant director (media cell) of Fire Service and Civil Defence.
The massive fire originated around 5:40am on Saturday (April 15) at the market in the capital.
A total of 31 firefighting units and teams from Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force brought the blaze under control at 9:10am.
At least 31 people including 25 firefighters fell sick from the heavy smoke. They were taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital for treatment, according to fire service sources.
