Chief of Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Muhammad Harun-or-Rashid said intelligence surveillance has been increased in almost all the markets in the capital for security.

He made this remark while talking to the media after a meeting with business leaders at DMP headquarters in the capital at noon on Tuesday (April 18).

The DB chief said, “We are observing that repeated fire incidents are taking place before Eid. Recently, two major fire incidents took place at the same time. The incidents may be sabotage. As a result, intelligence surveillance has been beefed up.”

One of the causes of fire is not repairing old electrical lines, using fake, cheap, and substandard electronic products, he added.

DMP Joint Commissioner of Police (Operations) Biplab Kumar Sarkar attended the meeting along with senior officers of DMP, various intelligence agencies, Special Branch, Fire Service, Bangladesh Shop Owners Association, Bangladesh Jewelery Association, Dhaka Metropolitan Shop Owners Association, FBCCI and other local business organizations of Dhaka Police Stations.
