A large size dead whale washed up on Himchhari Beach adjacent to Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf marine drive on Tuesday (April 18) noon.
On information, officials of the Upazila administration, forest department, department of environment, livestock and fisheries department, and police rushed to the spot.
Bangladesh Marine Research Institute (BURI) senior scientific officer Tariqul Islam confirmed the matter to Banglanews.
He said the whale is stuck in the sea at least 200 to 250 meters from the beach shore. The whale may have died at least a week ago.
The dead whale may spread stench, so they decided to bury it quickly, he said.
Earlier, in April 2021, two dead whales washed ashore in the same area of Cox’s Bazar.
