Four people, including two children, were killed when a passenger bus hit a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw in Dinajpur's Chirirbandar upazila.

The accident took place on Thursday at around 10:30 am in Shibpur area of Dinajpur-Fulbari highway near Uchitpur Bazar in the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Uttam Roy, 35, his wife Pallabi Roy, 32, their son Arnav, 7, and Pallabi's brother Apurbo, 10.

Locals said the Phulbari-bound passenger bus from Dinajpur hit the Dinajpur-bound auto-rickshaw coming from Nawabganj in Shibpur area, leaving two children of the autorickshaw dead on the spot and four others injured.

The injured, including the autorickshaw driver, were taken to Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital where Uttam Roy and his wife died while undergoing treatment.

Bajlur Rashid, officer-in-charge of Chirirbandar Police Station confirmed the matter.
