The government has decided to keep the transport of trucks and covered vans on ferries suspended for seven days before and after the Eid-ul Azha.
However, the movement of trucks carrying essential-perishable goods and sacrificial animals will continue as usual.
State Minister for Shipping Ministry Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury disclosed the matter while talking to journalists after a meeting on the movement of vessels ahead of Eid-ul-Azha in the capital on Wednesday (May 31).
He said the suspension will remain effective from three days before or after the day of Eid-ul-Azha.
There will be no restriction on carrying motorbikes, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury added.
