Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) predicted the ongoing severe heat wave is likely to continue in three districts and mild to moderate heat wave in parts of the country for the next 24 hours commencing 9am today.
According to the met office bulletin issued on Saturday (June 17) morning, severe heat wave is sweeping over Rajshahi, Pabna and Bogura districts. Mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Khulna division, rest parts of Rajshahi division and districts of Tangail, Faridpur and Dinajpur and it may continue.
"Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at most places over Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, at many places over Rangpur and Dhaka divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions," it said.
Day temperature may remain nearly unchanged over Rajshahi and Khulna divisions and it may fall slightly elsewhere over the country and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, the bulletin added.
Country's maximum temperature on Friday was recorded 41.3 degrees Celsius at Rajshahi while today's minimum temperature 22.0 degrees Celsius was recorded at Srimangal.
The highest rainfall was recorded 116mm at Sylhet in the last 24 hours till 6am today.
The sun sets at 6.48pm today and rises at 5.11am tomorrow in the capital.
