MEHERPUR: At least four Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel and three sources of the elite force were injured in mass beating at Gangni upazila of the district on Tuesday.

The villagers also snatched their two revolvers and set fire to two of their motorbike during the incident taken place around 5:00pm. They vandalized another motorbike.

The injured member personnel are DAD Zakir Hossain, DAD Mizanur Rahman, ASI Shariful Islam, Constable Lavlu Hossain and three sources are Sunnat Ali, Miarul Islam and Biplob Hossain.

They were rushed to Meherpur General Hospital with ASI Shariful Islam in critical condition.

Saidur Rahman of RAB-6 told banglanews that they with plain cloths conducted a drive led by Zakir Hossain to recover narcotics and the villagers beat them mercilessly predicting activists of ruling Awami League.

Physician of Meherpur General Hospital Ahsan Habib confirmed the matter to banglanews.
