A farmer was hacked to death by unidentified miscreants in his house at Mirpur upazila in Kushtia district early Monday (June 19).

The incident took place at around 2.00 am in Khadimpur village under Ward No-6 of Boholbaria union in the district.

The deceased was identified as Rabiul Islam Robi, 48, son of late Mukta Bishwas, a resident of Gangpara area of the village.

According to police, Robi's wife woke up around 1:30 am and found Rabiul's blood-stained body.

Mirpur Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police Abdul Khalek confirmed the matter.

Police are looking into the murder, he said, adding the body was sent to Kushtia General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
