President Md Shahabuddin personally inquired about the health of Nurul Haque Nur, President of the Gono Odhikar Parishad and former vice president of Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU), following his recent injuries sustained during political unrest.
Abu Hanif, a leader of the Gono Odhikar Parishad, confirmed on Sunday (August 31) morning that the President made a phone call at 10 am to check on Nur’s condition.
During the conversation, President Shahabuddin expressed concern over Nur’s health and assured him that the government would facilitate advanced medical treatment abroad.
The President also expressed his hope for Nur’s swift recovery and strongly condemned the attack, describing it as deeply regrettable.
The injuries occurred on Friday night (August 29) during a violent clash between members of the Jatiya Party (Japa) and the Gono Odhikar Parishad in front of Al Razi Tower in Bijoynagar.
Law enforcement intervened to disperse the groups, leading to a forceful crackdown. At least 50 people, including Nur and Gono Odhikar Parishad’s General Secretary Rashed Khan, were injured in the incident.
