Two people were killed and five others injured as a bus hit a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw at Dhanbari upazila in Tangail district on Wednesday (July 5) morning.

The deceased were identified as Wazed Mia, 40, and Halim, 32, hailed from Jamalpur district.

According to police, a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw was going towards Madhupur. On the way, a Dhaka-bound passenger bus ran over the CNG in Chhattarkandi area on the Tangail-Jamalpur highway, leaving two dead on the spot.

The injured were rescued and rushed to Dhanbari Upazila Health Complex where two persons died.

Dhanbari Police Station officer-in-charge Idris Ali confirmed the matter.

the bodies of the deceased have been handed over to their relatives after legal process, he added.
