The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall across all divisions, including Dhaka, with temperatures expected to remain largely unchanged.
Meteorologist Md Shaheenul Islam said on Tuesday (Sept 16) that the monsoon trough currently stretches from Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal through northern Bangladesh into Assam.
The monsoon is active over Bangladesh and moderately strong over the north Bay of Bengal. he added.
According to the forecast valid until Wednesday (Sept 17) morning, most areas in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions may experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by temporary gusty winds.
Some regions may witness moderate to very heavy rainfall. Day and night temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged.
For the subsequent 24 hours, widespread rain is likely to continue in most areas of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions, while many areas in Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions may also see showers with gusty winds.
Heavy rainfall is likely in some places in the northern divisions, with day and night temperatures expected to rise slightly.
