DHAKA: A suspected mugger was killed in a `gunfight` between Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel and his cohorts in Magbazar area of the capital early Friday.

The deceased was identified as Shafiq, 38.

Sources said that the gunfight took place at around 04:00am in front of RAB-3 office. At one stage of firing, Shafiq caught in the line of fire, leaving him dead on the spot.

Meanwhile, the elite force held three muggers and seized a microbus, numbers of mobile phone sets and sharp knives from the spot.

Ramna Thana Sub-Inspector Nazmul Hasan confirmed the matter to banglanews.
