US Under Secretary for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights Uzra Zeya is scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh today on a four-day visit.
During the July 11-14 visit, Zeya will engage with civil society organizations on freedom of expression and association, and inclusion of women and girls, persons with disabilities, and vulnerable groups.
Apart from that, US Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu and Deputy Assistant Administrator of the Bureau for Asia, USAID Änjali Kaur will be part of the delegation.
Donald Lu also also visited Bangladesh earlier this year. He has been heavily involved in setting Washington's Bangladesh policy in the recent past.
Earlier, a six-member Election Exploratory Mission (ExM) from the European Union begins its work in Bangladesh to assess the situation ahead of the national election.
