DHAKA: Oscar Fernandez-Taranco, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, is holding a meeting with Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali on Saturday morning.

The talks started at Foreign Ministry around 11:00am.

Earlier, Taranco, also special ambassador of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon for Political Affairs, had an hour-long meeting with foreign secretary Shahidul Haque at around 10:00am.

On Friday, a five-member UN delegation led by Taranco arrived Dhaka.

Sources said Taranco’ this visit would be the third times to urge concerned parties to take steps for resolving the ongoing political turmoil of the country.

Foreign Ministry sources said that Taranco would talk to the leaders’ from two main political parties and noted citizens of the country.
