Ruling Awami League-backed candidate Mohammad Ali Arafat won the Dhaka-17 by-election unofficially.
The results were published on Monday (July 17) evening.
Returning Officer Md. Munir Hossain Khan announced the results of the vote in Banani Bidyaniketan School and College centre.
Arafat received 28,816 votes while his nearest contender Ashraful Hossen Alom received 5,609 votes so far.
The polls were held in 124 centres from 8am to 4pm on Monday (July 17).
Among other candidates, Jatiya Party’s candidate Sikder Anisur Rahman (Plough) got 1,328votes, Zaker Party candidate (Rose) Kazi Rashidul Hasan got 923 votes, Bangladesh Sangskritik Muktijote (Cane) candidate Akter Hossain bagged 64 votes, independent Tariqul Islam Bhuiyan (Truck) got 52 votes, Swapan of Bangladesh Congress (Green coconut) candidate Rezaul Karim bagged 43, Trinamul BNP (Golden fiber) candidate Sheikh Habibur Rahman got 202 votes.
A total of 37, 420 voters cast their ballots in Dhaka-17 by-polls.
