The bus driver accused in a case filed over the fatal road crash that left 17 passengers dead in Jhalakathi on July 22 has been arrested.
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Mohon Khan on Tuesday (July 25) night from Ashulia, on the outskirt of Dhaka.
ANM Imran Khan, assistant director of Rab's Legal and Media Wing, confirmed the matter.
Sub-inspector Shusankar Sarkar of Jhalakathi Sadar Police Station filed the case on July 23.
Meanwhile, a five-member probe committee, formed by the local administration, revealed on Sunday that the driver did not have a licence to operate heavy vehicles.
At least 17 people were killed and more than a dozen others were injured after a bus plunged into a roadside pond in the Chhatrakanda area of Jhalakathi Sadar upazila on Saturday.
The Barisal-bound bus from Bhandaria upazila of Pirojpur fell into the pond near the local union parishad office.
