Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a suspected smuggler along with four gold bars weighing 2.35gram from Sultanpur border in Chuadanga on Thursday (July 27).
BGB arrested Kushum Poddar, 47, from Hothatpara rail crossing area in Dharshana at 7 am.
According to BGB, based on detective information Kushum has been arrested from broder's pillar number 77/2-S.
Later, four gold bars, and a mobile phone were recovered after searching Kushum. The market value of the recovered gold is Tk 2.2 crore, BGB said.
Director of Chuadanga-6 BGB is Lieutenant Colonel Syed Mohammad Zahidur Rahman confirmed the matter.
Naik Rabiul Islam has filed a case against the arrrstee at Darshana police station and the process of depositing the gold bars at the Chuadanga treasury office is under process, he said.
