Police arrested six people for allegedly gang-raping a woman after tying up her husband in Sakhipur upazila of Tangail on Thursday (August 3) night.

The husband filed a rape case with Sakhipur Police Station. 

The arrestees are – Labu Mia, 26, Bulbul Ahmed, 24, Mohammad Babul, 30, Asif Hosen, 23, Shafiq Ahmed, 25 and Mozzamel Haq, 30, all are the residents of Dhakkhinpara area of Kachua village of the upazila.

Rezaul Karim, officer-in-charge (OC) of the police station confirmed the matter. 

The woman was sent to a one-stop crisis centre for medical examination, OC said. 

According to the case statement, the couple went for a walk at Chader Hat area on Thursday afternoon. 

On their way back, seven to eight men intercepted them, took them to a nearby forest area and raped the woman, tying her husband to a tree.

Later, locals rescued them.
