Two persons including a Chinese citizen were sent to jail on Wednesday (August 29) for allegedly raping a college student in the capital.

They were identified as Ji Chen, 58, and his associate Hira Chakma, 25. 

Uttara west police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Masud Alam confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

Police arrested them from Uttara's Sector-16 Sunday night after the student filed a case with Uttara Paschim Police Station in Dhaka.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbub Ahmed today (August 29) rejected Ji Chen's bail petition.

According to police, the victim alleged that the Chinese national Ji Chen raped her by promising her of marrying and will take her to China. Bangladeshi citizen (female) Hira Chakma was an accomplice in this rape incident.

As per the allegation, on August 27, Ji Chen and Hira Chakma took the victim to a coffee shop after the incident. There, the victim sought help from another woman. Later, the woman reported the matter to the police, consequently, the girl was rescued and the two were arrested.
