A fisherman died after his boat capsized in the River Kalindi in Shyamnagar upazila of Satkhira on Friday (September 1) morning. 

The deceased was identified as Ali Hossain, 21, hailed from Poranpur village in the Upazila. 

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shyamnagar Thana Md Abul Kalam Azad confirmed the incident.

Local people said the boat capsized due to strong current in the river at around 11 am when Ali Hasan was catching fish along with another fisherman. 

The other fisherman was able to get ashore but Ali Hasan drowned. 

Later, people recovered his floating body from the river water.
