Dr Yunus sued in Rangpur for breaching labour law

A case was filed with Rangpur court against Nobel Laureate Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus for breach of labour law on Tuesday (September 19).

Farukul Islam, a retired senior farm manager from Grameen Krishi (Agriculture) Foundation, filed the case with Rangpur Labour Court.

Dr Yunus, founding chairman of Grameen Krishi (Agriculture) Foundation, has been made main accused in the case.

Five other employees of the company including board of directors chairman Noor Jahan Begum, acting managing director Shamsud Doha, and board members Imamus Sultan, Ratan Kumar Nag, and Shahajan have been made co-accused.

Farukul Islam, farm manager at the Grameen Krishi (Agriculture) Foundation branch office at Gobindganj in Gaibandha, was forced to retire without retirement gratuity and the encashment of accrued leave.
