ACC sues Mayor Khoka, dozen others for corruption

DHAKA: In a latest major development, the Anti-Corruption Commission filed a corruption case on Tuesday night against Mayor Sadek Hossain Khoka and a dozen other officials of Dhaka City Corporation.

The others sued on the graft charge are Saifuddin Ahmed, Alamgir Hossain Khan, Mehedi Ali Khan, Nurunnabi, Shakhawat Ullah, Md Asaduzzaman, Mojibar Rahman, Mizanur Rahman, Sami Faisal, ASM Hasanuzzaman, Atahar Ali Khan and Saifullah.

Officer-in-Charge of Shahbagh thana Rezaul Karim told banglanews24.com.bd that they were sued “on charge of corruption”.

The corruption took place during the recruitment of tax officers in 2006, sources said.

According to the case statement, a total of 94 candidates sat for the job test, but the recruitment process was completed within a day by giving appointment to five of them through viva voce.

Assistant Director of ACC Harun-or-Rashid filed the corruption case against the 13 with Shahbagh thana under section 109 sub-section 5(2) of the Abuse of Power Act 1947.
