DHAKA: The hearing of the case over the maritime boundary dispute between Bangladesh and India in the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) of The Hague completed on Wednesday.

The verdict is expected to be passed within six months, sources from the ministry of foreign affairs said.

The sources also said that at various stages of the hearing, poll-time government foreign minister AH Mahmud Ali and former foreign minister Dr Dipu Moni along with Bangladesh delegation and lawyers were present.

On July 31, India, in the second phase of arguments, submitted its written papers on behalf of their demand to PCA in Hague of Netherlands.

Before this, Bangladesh also submitted written arguments along with necessary documents to the court in two phases.

Earlier in 2011, Bangladesh placed the demand of maritime boundary. Later India also came up with the matter in 2012.

Bangladesh instituted arbitral proceedings in the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) on October 08, 2009 after making all-out attempts to solve the issue bilaterally.
