Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the newly constructed 15-storey building for Bangladesh Bar Council, the licencing and regulatory body of lawyers, today (October 21).
She inaugurated the office building, constructed near the Supreme Court through a project costing Tk 138 crore, at 11:24 am.
The new building has adequate office space, meeting room, two conference rooms, record room, store room, waiting area, cafeteria, day-care centre, exhibition space, registration room, bank, accounts section, IT section, among other facilities.
Built under the supervision of Law and Justice Division and designed by Department of Architecture, the building has five tribunal rooms, multipurpose hall and separate prayers room, an official release said.
More than a hundred lawyers can live in the building, with a TV lounge, kitchen and dining hall.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina later joined the lawyers' grand rally on Historic Suhrawardi Udyan as chief guest. Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq has presided over the rally.
