A man was killed and at least 20 others were injured over dominance in Gopalganj’s Kashiani Upazila on early Monday (October 30).
The deceased was identified as Ansar Chowdhury, 55, hailed from Nijamkandi village of the Upazila.
Kashiani police station officer in charge (OC) Feroz Alam confirmed the matter.
He said that for a long time there was conflict between chairman of Nizamkandi Union Parishad, Nowsher Ali, and Mokhlesul Rahman Master Group over the expansion of dominance in the area. As a result of this, around 8 in the morning, people of two groups clashed with weapons in Nizamkandi Bazar.
However, seven injured people were taken to Gopalganj General Hospital immediately where the doctor declared Ansar Chowdhury dead, he said.
The OC also said that an operation is underway to catch those involved in the incident.
