Workers set fire to a RMG factory named ABM Fashion Limited in Konabari area of Gazipur City Corporation on Monday (October 30) evening.

According to police, agitated workers first vandalized factory adjacent to Konabari Police Station on Kashimpur Road and set fire on it. Later, the police rushed the spot and brought the situation under control.

AKM Ashraf Uddin, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Konabari Police Station, Gazipur Metropolitan confirmed the matter.

Earlier, workers of several readymade garment factories were demonstrating for the seventh consecutive day on Monday demanding a minimum basic salary of Tk 23,000

Later, a worker was shot to death during the clash.

The worker Md Rasel Hawlader, 25, son of Abdul Hanna of Jhalakathi Sadar upazila died at a hospital in the afternoon. 

He worked as an electrician at Design Express Garments in Maleker Bari area.
