DHAKA: The election commission (EC) sent a letter to arm forces division seeking military helicopter and plane for seven days ahead of 10thaprliamentary polls scheduled to be held on January 5.

The election commission source said helicopter and plane will be used for electoral purpose till January 7.

The military helicopter and plane will be used basically in 33 polling centres in hill tracks areas, added the source.

Earlier according to the request of the election commission, army personnel have been deployed across the country from Thursday to maintain law and order and security of voters during the elections.

Sources from the election commission said the army has been deployed as striking force and help as per requests of the returning officer though they would not do any duty within the polling booth and will work till January 9.
