A total of 542 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and 424 teams of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have been deployed across the country to maintain law and order on the second day of a two-day blockade called by BNP and its allies.
Shariful Islam, public relations officer (PRO) at BGB headquarters, and Commander Khandaker Al Moin, director of the legal and media wing of RAB, confirmed the deployment development on Monday (December 4) morning.
A total of 20 BGB platoons have been deployed in Dhaka and adjoining districts to resist any untoward incident.
Meanwhile, the number of RAB units in Dhaka and nearby districts is 132 today.
Apart from maintaining law and order, RAB is also escorting long-distance public transport and cargo transport to their destinations in different parts of the country.
The ninth round of blockade called by the BNP and its allies on roads, railways, and waterways will end at 6:00am on Tuesday (December 5).
The BNP and other like-minded parties also observed hartal and blockade in several times to mount pressure on the AL government to quit power and hold the next election under a non-partisan administration.
