A total of 147 platoons of the Border Guard Bangladesh have been deployed across the country today (December 24) to maintain the law and order situation during BNP's nationwide dawn-to-dusk blockade.
GBG public relations officer Shariful Islam confirmed the matter.
He said that 147 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed across the country today, including 16 platoons in Dhaka and surrounding districts to maintain the law and order situation.
Besides, sufficient number of BGB platoons are on standby, he added.
Another road, rail and waterways blockade called by the BNP is underway across Bangladesh today.
Since 29 October, the opposition parties have enforced hartals in four phases and communication blockades in 12 phases.
They have been continuing simultaneous movement since 29 October after BNP’s grand rally in Dhaka was foiled the day before.
Earlier on Saturday night, miscreants set fire to three buses in the capital's Dhanmondi, Mirpur and Gulistan.
