PM seeks people’s help for polls

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday urged the people to help in the upcoming January 5 polls protecting the continuation of democracy in the country.

The premier, also Awami League president, came up with the urge as chief guest in an election campaign speech in city’s Kafrul Adarsha High School.

The Premier said those who had created 1/11 and formed Kings Party are active still. They have declared themselves as civil society people because their demand is high whenever any undemocratic and unconstitutional force assumes power.

Addressing the party men Sheikh Hasina said encourage the voters to go to the polling centres so that each and everyone comes to cast vote.

She also alleged that there was no democracy in BNP chairperson’s manner.

In her speech, Awami League president also highlighted her government’s achievements including success to produce 10,000MW electricity and pay-rise of RMG workers from Tk 1,600 to 5,200.

Sheikh Hasina also announced to build Digital Bangladesh in line with the spirit of Liberation War.

With Kamal Ahmed Majumder MP in the chair, the programme was also addressed, among others, by Awami League leader Jahangir Kabir Nanak, MA Aziz, Enamul Haque Shamim, Aslamul Haque and Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil.
