Remand sought for 5 BNP leaders

DHAKA: Police on Monday placed another 10-day remand plea against BNP standing committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed and four other top leaders.

The remand appeal was filed in a case field for violence during hartal at Motijheel Thana.

Earlier, on November 14, metropolitan magistrate Rezaul Karim issued an eight-day remand order after hearing on two cases against them.

The other accused leaders are: BNP standing committee member MK Anwar, Barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah, Chairperson’s advisor Abdul Awal Mintoo and Special Assistant Advocate Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas.

On November 8, Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested BNP leaders from different parts of the city for their alleged involvement in violence.
