DHAKA: Opposition BNP-led 18-party alliance has extended 48-hour hartal by 12-hour till Wednesday 6:00pm in protest against detaining the party leaders.

Vice-Chairman of the party Selima Rahman made the announcement while talking to journalist at her Gulshan residence on Tuesday evening.

Earlier in the day, law enforcers picked up some senior leaders of BNP, including BNP chairperson`s adviser Khandaker Mahbub Hossain and four lawmakers in a sudden crackdown in the capital.

Later, four of them were freed.
