Bashundhara gives 80 underprivileged women sewing machines

Bashundhara Group, the largest business conglomerate in the country, has provided sewing machines after free training to make poor women self-reliant.

As part of this initiative, a total of 60 women in Thakurgaon district have been trained and given sewing machines. 45 sewing machines were handed over to them on Thursday while 15 on Friday.

Meanwhile, a total of 20 women in Dinajpur's Birganj upazila were gifted with sewing machines on Saturday after training.

On the other hand, a valiant freedom fighter told the story of his war days to the students of Bashundhara Shuvosangho School in Jaldhaka Upazila of Nilphamari on Saturday afternoon.

Birganj (Dinajpur): A total of 20 underprivileged women of Dinajpur's Birganj upazila got sewing machines from Bashundhara Group. After three months of training, they were gifted the sewing machines on Saturday. The lawmaker from Dinajpur-1 Constituency Md Zakaria Zaka was present as the chief guest at the sewing machine distribution ceremony.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Fazle Elahi, Director of Bashundhara Shuvosangho Zakaria Zaman, Upazila Krishak League President Shibli Sadiq, Zilla Parishad Member Roknuzzaman Biplab, Awami League Leader Monowar Hossain, Kaler Kantho District Correspondent Emdad Haque, Birganj Upazila Correspondent Sohel Ahmed, and District President of Bashundhara Shuvosangho Rasel Islam were present the special guests.

Monica Murmu (35), who got a sewing machine, thanked the Bashundhara Group and said, “I got married 10 years ago. I spent conjugal life only for three years. I have a school-going son. My husband was unemployed and used to torture me. So I left him and went to my father's house with my son. Seeing my condition, Bashundhara Shubasangha allowed me to learn sewing. After three months of training, today I am getting a sewing machine as a gift.”

Jaldhaka (Nilphamari): In the month of great independence, the valiant freedom fighter Hamidur Rahman narrated the story of the Liberation War to the students of Bashundhara Shuvosangho School. He risked his life in various important operations as a wartime company commander.
