Man detained with 6 gold bars in Benapole

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a person along with six gold bars weighing 700 gram from Putkhali border area under Benapole port police station.

Monor Uddin, 31, son of Kodor Ali was detained by BGB near Putkhali Moshjidbari check post on early Friday (March 29).

According to BGB, tipped of gold will be smuggled to India. Later, BGB conducted a drive and a easybike was stopped for search in Moshjidbari check post. 

At that time, nothing was found after searching Easybike and Monor’s body. On questioning, he said that he had a six gold bars in his anus. He was later taken to a local hospital for scanning and the gold bars were found, BGB said. 

However, the estimated market value of the recovered gold is Tk 70 lakh.

Khulna 21 BGB Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Khurshid Anwar said that the recovered gold has been submitted to the Jessore Treasury, and the accused was handed over to Benapole Port Police Station.
