2 killed, five vehicles catch fire after tank lorry overturns in Savar

Two persons were burnt to death and seven others injured when a tank lorry carrying oil overturned and caught fire on Dhaka-Aricha highway in Savar on Tuesday (April 2) morning.

The deceased was identified as Nazrul Islam and Iqbal Hossain. 

The injured were admitted to Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute in Dhaka.

Five of them were identified as Abdus Salam, 35, Milon Molla, 22, Al-Amin, 35, Niranjan, 45, and Mim, 5, Helal, 30, Shakib, 24. 

Md. Babul Akhter, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Savar Highway Police Station, confirmed the matter. 

He said that the fire soon spread and burnt at least four more vehicles -- a private car.

On information, three firefighting units from Savar and Hemayetpur rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control.

He said that an oil-laden lorry turned turtle and caught fire in Aricha bound lane in Jorpul area of Hemayetpur around 5:00am, leaving one dead.
