DHAKA: Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh congratulated Sheikh Hasina on her assuming the office of Prime Minister of Bangladesh for second consecutive term.

The Indian Prime Minister made the congratulations in a press release of High Commission of India in Dhaka on Sunday evening.

The news release added: “Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh sent a message of felicitations to Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh, and also called her on the telephone this evening to convey his good wishes to her on assumption of the office of Prime Minister after the recent elections in Bangladesh.:

He wished her and the people of Bangladesh all success in the endeavour to strengthen democratic institutions in Bangladesh, it added.
