Ashulia RMG workers abstain from work

SAVAR, DHAKA: Hundreds of readymade garment workers are observing work abstention in protest against retrenchment of fellow workers and poor payment of production bonus at two factories in Savar-Ashulia industrial area on Wednesday.

Sources said seeing the retrenchment notice of 35 workers at Lusaka Group, co-workers started demonstration demanding cancelation of the official action.

Agitating workers from Lusaka Group factory tried to put barricade on Bismail-Jirabo road but industrial police dispersed the protesters.

Besides, Galimpur Knitting Ltd. offered poor amount of production bonus that triggered a protest.

Protesting workers attempted to come out of the factory demanding their due bonus. After being protested by police, they took position at the factory premises and staging protest to press home their demand.

Confirming the matter to banglanews Ashulia Industrial police Assistant Director Johirul Islam said, “Additional police was deployed to avert any untoward situation.”
