A youth was shot dead and 10 others were injured in a clash between two groups of local Awami League (AL) over establishing supremacy in Charkewar Union of Munshiganj Sadar on early Saturday. 

The deceased was identified as Parvez Kha (20), son of Palash Kha. 

Rabbi Kha (29), who was shot in this incident, has been referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The rest received treatment locally.

The incidents occurred intermittently between 3:00 am and 7:00 am on Saturday in the Sadar Upazila’s Khashkandi and Choto Mollakandi villages, OC Md Aminul Islam of the Sadar Police Station confirmed.

Though additional police have been deployed, witnesses said a pent-up situation prevails in the area.
