NETROKONA: A district court on Thursday awarded life imprisonment to six robbers and fined TK 20,000 each for their involvement in killing of fellow robber Gaziur Rahman.

Netrokona Additional Session Judge Abdul Hamid passed the verdict.

The convicts are Abdul Barek, son of late Elahi Baks, Neyeb Ali, son of late Asir Uddin, Abdur Rashid, son of late Mia Box, Nayeb Ali, Nayeb Ali, son of late Saber Uddin, Kadir Uddin, son of late Alal Uddin and Habol Mia, son of Galim Mia.

The court sources said that on July 22, 2001, victim Gazibur Rahman came out of home after receiving call from the convicts and four days later his decomposed body was recovered from Mahishber village under Purbodhala Upazila of the district.

On April 14, 2002, after investigation, police submitted charge-sheet in the case.

The court gave the punishment as the allegations brought against the accused were proved.

Additional Public Prosecutor Saiful Alam confirmed the matter to banglanews.
