3 die in Satkhira separate road accident

A total of three people, including an Indian national, were killed in separate road accidents in Satkhira on Wednesday (June 12) night.

The deceased Shahin Mandal, 20, hailed from Basirhat in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, India; Zulfikar Ali, 45, a resident of Gurugram under Debhata upazila in Satkhira; and Monirul Islam, 34, a resident of Krishnanagar village under Patkelghata upazila of the same district.

In the first incident at Bhomra land port, Shahin Mandal was unloading stones from a truck. That time another truck approaching from behind hit him, leaving serious injuries. Later, Shahin was rushed to Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared him dead at midnight.

Satkhira Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge Mohidul Islam confirmed the matter Banglanews.

On the other hand, in Chakdaha Bridge area in Patkelghata a Khulna-bound truck rear-ended a dumper truck on the Satkhira-Khulna highway around midnight. Zulfikar Ali and Monirul Islam, who were inside, sustained critical injuries and the dumper truck was severely damaged. They were transported to Satkhira Sadar Hospital, where they were pronounced dead at about 2:00am.

Both victims were declared dead by on duty doctor after their arrival, said Biplob Kumar Nath, officer-in-charge of Patkelghata Police Station to Banglanews.

The bodies were sent to Satkhira Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, police official added.
