Attach assets of Sylhet customs commissioner Enamul: Court

A Dhaka court today (July 4) ordered the authorities concerned to attach the immovable properties of Mohammed Enamul Hoque, commissioner of Sylhet Customs, Excise & VAT Commissionerate, in a case lodged over amassing of illegal wealth.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Ash Shams Jaglul Hossain passed the order, allowing a plea of the Investigation Officer and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Deputy Director Farzana Yasmin.

ACC counsel Mahmud Hossain Jahangir said the anti-graft body filed the case against Enamul for amassing an illegal wealth of Taka 9.76 crore.

The ACC during its probe learned that the accused is trying to sell or hand over the properties bought by money earned through corruption.

If the accused manages to hand over the properties, our goal of seizing the properties under the state would be hampered, the ACC counsel added.
