Short-distance train services will resume on Thursday on a limited scale under a relaxed curfew.
The decision was made at a meeting on Tuesday at the Bangladesh Railway Building.
However, no decision was made on the intercity train services.
Rail Minister Md Zillul Hakim presided over the meeting, which included the Secretary of the Ministry of Railways, the Director-General of Bangladesh Railway, and other senior railway officials.
Railways Ministry Public Relations Officer Iftekhar Alam Rajan said, "From Thursday, short-distance train services will resume under the relaxed curfew. However, no decision has been made regarding intercity train services."
Train services were halted on July 18 due to violence during the quota reform movement.
Limited freight train services resumed briefly last Wednesday but were suspended again the following day, with only a few oil-carrying trains operating under BGB protection.
