RAJSHAHI: A boy was crushed under the wheels of a reckless truck at Tarapur in Puthia upazila Sunday noon.

The deceased was identified as Sanwar, 12, hailed from Shahbajpur village in Durgapur upazila.

Puthia thana Officer-in-charge Ziaul Alam told banglanews24.com.bd that a Dhaka-bound goods-laden truck knocked down the bicycle, carrying Sanwar, from behind at about 12.15pm.

“As Sanwar fell down on the road from his cycle, the truck ran over him,” he said.

Police arrested the killer truck but the driver and helper of the vehicle fled the scene.

Enraged by the accident blamed on inefficient and reckless driving, a mob put barricade on the Dhaka-Rajshahi Highway, disrupting communication for one-and-a-half hours.
