GAZIPUR: The second phase of Biswa Ijtema, the second largest Muslim congregation after the holy Hajj, has begun on Friday on the banks of the Turag River at Tongi after Fazr prayer.
The second phase of Ijtema started after giving four days pause which will end February 2. The first phase of Biswa Ijtema took at the same venue on January 24-26.
Thousands of devotees from home and abroad have already thronged the bank of Turag to take part in the religious event.
Sources said that the second phase Ijtema has started formally with the boyans (sermons) of Indian Maulana Jamshed Aam.
The religious event includes delivering boyans (sermons) on the fundamental issues of Tabligh, prayer for the spiritual adoration, exaltation and welfare of the Muslim Ummah.
